O2 Review

O2 is one of the United Kingdom’s premium mobile network providers and offers in its kitty a variety of services including contract plans on a monthly basis, mobile broadband services and SIM only deals. There are also a selection of pay as you go plans that are ideal for those who use their mobile phones only on occasion. O2 offers among its phones, a large number of the latest smartphones, particularly Android ones and customers have plenty to choose from. The prices of the plans and phones are also quite varied so there is going to be something for everyone.

The interesting thing about O2 is that it was the first network in the UK to offer the Apple iPhone on a contract basis. Now, the iPhone is no longer exclusive but O2 offers some attractive deals for iPhone users such as the Tu Me VoIP app that lets users call any phones via the WiFi network or the data plan. O2 had also offered a lot of unlimited text and data plans but withdrew them back in 2010. Now, its plans, though not unlimited are still generous to a large extent. For example, SIM only plans start at £26 with unlimited texts and calls and 1GB of data. Add a phone to that for a mere £10 extra a month. Of course, this depends on the model of the phone but the prices are quite competitive.

O2 offers the latest Smartphone’s such from big brands such as Samsung, HTC, Nokia and will be offering 4G phones now and is going to be offering 4G LTE services in 2013. The network is also offering the latest iPhone, but the phone is not going to be free on all plans. In fact, the best deal that O2 is going to offer will be for £46 a month with unlimited texts and minutes and 2GB of data with the free phone. Along with contract based plans, there are SIM only plans that are a fair bit cheaper. These are useful if you already have a phone to use them with.

The other impressive service from O2 is the broadband services, for both home and mobile needs. The speeds on the mobile broadband service are standard 3G right now and for home broadband services, speeds are at 16Mbps, similar to HSPA+ networks. Mobile broadband services come in a variety of packages and have monthly plans starting at £10 for a 12 month period.

O2 is reputed to have among the best customer service facilities in the United Kingdom. Complaints are addressed very quickly and services are setup immediately on confirmation. Moreover, billing is known to be fair and the website is very easy to use and lodge a complaint over faulty services.
